Stepping Stones

The stones were laid out for me one by one

Like pure magic

Just follow the stones

Take the path that was planned for me a long time ago

Before I was born

I could have laid down the stones myself

I could have planned the path

Many times I did

I tried

I planned

Sometimes it worked out

Other times it zig zagged

Dead ends

Other times I stumbled and fell

Hindered with obstacles

Overwhelming and hard to bear

Plans

At one time I liked plans

Now I like “no plans”

The path of least resistance

The surprises that make me go “ahh” in wonder and delight

If we open up our path to the unknowns

Placed carefully before us by God

The master and creator of the universee

Miracles and grace happen.

Proverbs 16:3
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Psalm 18:36
You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip

Jeremiah 29:11
Let go and Let God. I have died to myself and live through Christ. I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, they are plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

My go to verses, the ones that sing to my soul. That give me reassurance and hope to walk in the steps, on the stones, on the path that God has laid out for me.

The stones are sometimes so new they are clean and smooth not worn nor familiar to my feet. With time and many steps, many back and forth, they soften changing color with the seasons.

I like stones. I like small smooth round ones I can hold in my hand and rub the smoothness for comfort, put in my pocket, or place in a special place in my space.

Earth, substance, buoyancy and the look of bounce.

Cool and centered earth, warm sultry color, smooth and flat. They redefine and substantiate a place.

My life is a journey

A journey that is still unknown in all of its complexity

I am going to embrace the journey allowing God to change it according to his will. I know he will surprise me.

Words have always spoken to me. I see words, I hear words, I sing words and I rhyme words. God shows me words. On a billboard, a sign, in a book, through a person, in a song, wherever I go.

God speak to me. Show me and lead me in your ways. Sing to me with words that sooth and give me joy. Let me see the signs you have for me and guide and encourage me on the path you have me on, the stepping stones of life laid out for me.

You are a rock You are a stone You are life to me

You lead me along still waters You lead me to new paths
You lead me in new directions You lead me to where I am to go.

Lord you are a rock
I am a rolling stone
Lord you are the Earth
That grounds me in truth
Lord you lead me
On paths to where I should go.

Your word is a lamp for my feet Shining in its truth and wisdom A light that warms me
And shows me where to go.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Light. I love light. The way it is fluid and warm and shines and creates warmth in a space.

God is light. His energy and spirit brings love and light to a room. When I am with God I feel warm and bright, energetic and rejoiced.

Stones ground me, anchor me, give me the feeling of strength and substance. Light gives me warmth and joy.

I walk on the stepping stones placed on the path before me in the light of the day and the warmth of the sun which warms me.

A metaphor. This is God to me when I walk each day one step in front of the other, not planning, waiting and knowing he is guiding my steps, carefully, with good judgement and his well thought out plans. Some days my steps seem to take me further along, other days I think I am standing still even as I take a step forward. It is all in God’s time. I like to leave the 12 hour day behind me, focus on the moment and see and experience what is directly in front of me. Thank you God for showing me your plans in words, in stones, in light, on signposts, markers that shout out to me when I look.

“Here I am”.
“ I am with you”
“See I am here”
“The Holy Spirit is speaking”

Okay, God , I get it. You do not let me get away from your voice. You speak to me in a way that I will see, hear, and know that you are with me. A hummingbird that visits, that flutters its rapidly beating wings of iridescent color. My heart sings to see such beauty and well created wonder.
